Guru-ma Shailaja Devi is now affectionately known as Maiyaji. Educated through the modern English system, she received
education and training in the fields of yoga and religion in her devout family. She also received highly developed training in
yoga through invisible persons in dreams. She married Swamiji in 1980 and is now mother of their two children. Following
the food habits of Swamiji, she has not taken any cereals and salt since she married.
When she is not busy in her own sadhana- japa, meditation and samadhi, she looks after the children, kitchen and
Ashram administration. She was instrumental in construction and organisation of the Ashram at Rishikesh-Laxmanjhula
in the foothills of Himalayas.
Maiyaji guides the seekers in the field of yoga-sadhana. She spends considerable time everyday with female seekers
advising and guiding them as to how to carry out sadhana along with their worldly duties.
